Welcome Softball Players!

Spring is just around the corner and Hallie Girls Softball wants to help you prepare for your upcoming season!

We beleive that if you take care of the little things then big things will happen. Developing the proper fundamentals is the key to success for any ball player.

Come spend a day or two with us. You will learn some great softball skills and have alot of fun while learning. Take a look below at what our clinics have to offer.

Clinic Sessions

Pitching Session
Saturday, April 5, 2008   8am - 10am
Saturday, April 5, 2008   10am - 12pm
Cost :  $25 ($15 if you also attend one of the Defense/Hitting Combo Sessions)

Beginner & Intermediate. This session focuses on proper pitching mechanics to gain velocity and accuracy. Intermediate pitchers will be exposed to different pitch types.


Catchers Session
Saturday, April 5, 2008   10:30am - Noon
Cost:  $15

This session covers the fundamentals from the stance to the throw down. Covers footwork, throwing technique, framing, blocking, signing, bunt coverage, pickoffs and more.


Defense/Hitting Combo Session
Saturday, April 5, 2008   1pm - 5pm
Sunday, April 6, 2008   1pm - 5pm
Cost:  $30

Fundamentals of Infield Play - From the Ready Position to making the throw. Learn proper footwork for vertical and lateral movement, Forehand/Backhand fielding techniques, Covering the bag, Making the tag, Infield throwing techniques and much more. Session ends with position specific skills and drills.

Hitting - From the stance to the follow through. Learn to make better contact and increase your power. Individual video analysis provided using Right View Pro software.





Parents - You are more than welcome to observe the clinics. As a matter of fact we encourage it! The girls will be exposed to a number of different drills and techiques that they can continue into their upcoming season. We will provide a packet of drills for each of you which will prove very useful if you are also a coach.

Each session will be limited to 20 participants. The clinics will be held at the Chippewa Falls Senior High School. Both the front and rear gyms will be used along with the school batting cages. Wear comfortable clothes (t-shirt/sweat pants).

Please arrive AT LEAST 15 minutes (30 min preferred) prior to the start of your session to get checked in. The sessions will promptly begin at their designated start times.

Refund Policy:  There will be no refunds after March 22, 2008.

What to Bring

  • Glove, Bat, Tennis Shoes (No Cleats), water bottle
  • Catchers - You will not need gear for most drills, but bring your own gear if you have it.
  • Bring a lunch if you are attending the Pitchers/Catchers Session and also plan on attending the Saturday Defense/Hitting Combo Session.

    Clinic Staff
    Jared Faherty
    Chi-Hi Varsity Head Coach

    Coach Faherty is in his 1st year as the Chi-Hi Varsity Head Coach. He was the JV coach for the past 6 years and has accumulated a 94-13 record. Prior to joining the Chi-Hi staff he was the head softball coach for West Salem High School. He also spent time as an assistant coach for UW-LaCrosse. During the summer Faherty coaches the Chippewa Valley Flash travel team and has guided his team to 3 ASA State Championship titles and also a 4th place finish at the 2006 ASA Northern National.
    Shelly Miller
    Chi-Hi Varsity Assistant Coach

    Coach Miller is in his 7th year as a varsity assistant coach. He has helped coach the Cardinals to 5 Big Rivers Conference Championship titles and 4 WIAA State Tournament appearances. Prior to joining the Chi-Hi staff Miller spent 4 years coaching summer travel teams and helped guide his teams to an  ASA State Championship title and an ASA National Championship Tournament appearance. He also coached 12 years in the Hallie Girls Softball organization.

    Kate Fjelstad
    Chi-Hi Junior Varsity Coach

    Coach Fjelstad is in her first year as the Chi-Hi Junior Varsity coach.  She has played NCAA softball in both Division 2 and Division 3 at Concordia University & UW-LaCrosse splitting time between shortstop and third base.  Prior to her college career she played 4 years of high school softball at Chi-Hi and many years in the Hallie Girls Softball organization.  She also played 16U and 18U summer travel softball for the Chippewa Valley Flash under Coach Faherty.
    Steve Frank
    Chi-Hi Varsity Assistant Coach

    Coach Frank is in his second year as an assistant varsity coach for Chi-Hi. Prior to joining the Chi-Hi staff Frank coached summer travel teams and guided his teams to 2 ASA State Championship titles and 3 ASA National Tournament appearances. As a player he was voted ASA All-American 3 times and ASA All-World 4 times. During the summer he helps coach the Chippewa Valley Flash travel team. He also coached 9 years in the Hallie Girls Softball organization.
    Kevin Malnory
    Chi-Hi Varsity Assistant Coach


    Coach Malnory is in his 2nd year as an assistant varsity coach for Chi-Hi. Last year he helped coach the Cardinals to 2 Big Rivers Conference championships and 2 WIAA State Tournament appearances. He has coached summer travel teams and coached in the Hallie Girls Softball organization for the 9 years. Coach Malnory has personally discussed and corresponded pitching fundamentals with Gold Medal Olympic pitchers Michelle Smith and Lisa Fernandez, as well as legendary pitching coaches Ernie Parker and Doug Finch.
